Oxford Heights Christian Academy, Owerri, proudly hosted its vibrant Variety Week Celebration from February 20th to 24th, 2023, creating an exciting and enriching atmosphere for students, teachers, and the entire school community.
The event was designed to promote creativity, talent development, cultural awareness, confidence, and healthy competition among learners while making learning more engaging beyond the classroom.
Day 1: Professional Career Day
The week began with Professional Career Day, where students dressed in outfits representing various professions such as doctors, engineers, pilots, teachers, and more. This activity helped learners gain early exposure to different career paths and inspired them to think about their future ambitions and goals. It also encouraged confidence, presentation skills, and career awareness.
Day 2: Colour Combo Day
On Colour Combo Day, students and staff came dressed in creative and coordinated colour combinations. The day was filled with excitement, fashion creativity, and school spirit. It allowed students to express themselves while promoting unity, joy, and a sense of belonging within the school community.
Day 3: Jersey and Sports Day
The Jersey and Sports Day brought energy and excitement to the school as students wore their favourite sports jerseys. Various sporting activities and friendly competitions were held, encouraging teamwork, physical fitness, discipline, and sportsmanship. It was a lively day that strengthened student bonding and active participation.
Day 4: Spelling Bee and Other Competitions
The fourth day focused on intellectual development with the Spelling Bee and other academic competitions. Students showcased their vocabulary, confidence, and intellectual abilities in a competitive but friendly environment. This helped improve language skills, critical thinking, and academic excellence among participants.
Day 5: Traditional Day
The grand finale of the week was Traditional Day, where students and staff dressed in beautiful cultural attire representing various ethnic backgrounds. The day celebrated Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage, promoting unity in diversity, respect for tradition, and cultural pride. It was marked with performances, presentations, and joyful celebrations.
The 2023 Variety Week at Oxford Heights Christian Academy was a remarkable success.
